Kidney Surgery Under Local Anesthesia*

MY OBJECT in presenting this paper is to answer in detail inquiries which have been made regarding the scope and possibilities of local anesthesia in kidney surgery. I will consequently confine my discussion exclusively to the technical side. The indications for local may be briefly stated to be any condition in which the hazard of a general anesthetic is to be avoided if possible.
