Abstract
THE RAPID ADVANCEMENT of oral surgery and the refinement of exodontia technique are, in part, due to the perfection of methods of anesthetization. From time immemorial the noblest minds have striven to alleviate pain. As civilization has made progress, medicine and surgery and the various specialties, including anesthesia, have kept pace. Dentistry has been closely allied with the development of anesthesia as a phase of surgical practice.
