Obstetrical Analgesia and Anesthesia With Sodium Isoamylethyl Barbiturate and Nitrous Oxid-Oxygen.*

Henry S. Ruth, B.S., M.D

Anesthetist, Philadelphia, Pa.

Abstract

MAINLY, BECAUSE OF THE opposing factors of bigotry and false theology very little progress was made in obstetrical analgesia and anesthesia from the time Simpson's initial pioneering in 1874 until the past decade. Today, the high plane of civilization existent at the present time demands relief from parturient distress to the greatest possible degree.
