"Massive Cardiac Hypertrophy in a Patient with Danon Disease: An Intraoperative Transesophageal Echocardiographic Evaluation" by Mittnacht et al.
Data Files:
Echo Loop 1
-
Video montage of several transesophageal echocardiography views demonstrating the hypertrophy of the heart in this patient with Danon disease. There was an increased mass/volume ratio, giving the appearance of hypoplastic ventricular cavities, despite previously determined normal ventricular volume measurements. The displayed ECG tracing is cut off, despite being set at the maximum amplitude, due to the massive voltages seen in this patient.
(IVS= interventricular septum, LA = left atrium, LV = left ventricle, RA = right atrium, RAA = right atrial appendage, RV = right ventricle, SVC = superior vena cava)
Echo Loop 2
-
Video montage of several transesophageal echocardiography views showing unobstructed flow across the left ventricular outflow tract, the absence of systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve leaflets, and minimal mitral regurgitation. Both mitral valve leaflets show severely restricted leaflet motion. However, due to symmetric leaflet tethering leaflet coaptation is maintained. The arrow is pointing to tethered chordae.
