Echo Rounds

Anesthesia & Analgesia: Volume 105, Issue 5, Page 1231.
"Transesophageal Echocardiography of the Edge-to-Edge Technique of Mitral Valve Repair" by Bader et al.

Data Files:

  • Echo Loop 1 -
Clip #1: This is from the baseline examination, showing an enlarged, severely hypokinetic LV with anterior and posterior leaflet tethering in the midesophageal aortic valve long axis view. Color flow Doppler demonstrates severe mitral regurgitation (MR). In the transgastric basal short axis view, MR can be seen all along the commissural line.
  • Echo Loop 2 -
Clip #2: Following the procedure, the midesophageal aortic valve long axis view shows A2 and P2 sewn together with reduced leaflet mobility. Mild mitral regurgitation (MR) is present on color flow Doppler. The transgastric basal short axis view demonstrates the creation of the double orifice, with the Alfieri stitch (labeled) in the middle.
