Echo Rounds

Anesthesia & Analgesia: Volume 106, Issue 1, Page 67.
"Elephant Trunk Prosthesis Kinking: Transesophageal Echocardiography Diagnosis" by Wallet et al.

Data Files:

  • Echo Loop -
Video loop: TEE examination of the proximal descending thoracic aorta demonstrating complete kinking of the elephant trunk vascular prosthesis In the first part of the video we can see a descending aortic long axis view (Desc aortic LAX) at a multiplane angle of 90 degrees. We can see the parietal thrombus and the complete kinking of the prosthesis with the distal end on cephalic direction. On the second part of the video, we can see doppler color flow imaging from the distal end of the prosthesis and the intimal flap of the false lumen of this type B dissection. On the third part of the video, we can see a desc aortic SAX and a rotation of the multiplane angle from 0 to 90° providing a scan of the descending thoracic aorta from the short-axis cross section to the long-axis cross section.
