Predistention of the Epidural Space with Saline Before Catheter Insertion

We thank Drs. Siddik-Sayyid and Baraka for their comments.1 Their results2 support the findings of our study,3 emphasizing that an important advantage of the predistention of the epidural space is a lower incidence of blood vessel trauma. Similar to their findings, we did not note that "dilution" by the predistention with saline reduced analgesic efficacy.
