In the November 2003 issue, in the case report by Wong et al.,"Facial Skin Injuries Caused by Adhesive Tapes in a PatientReceiving Cosmetic Skin Exfoliants" (Anesth Analg 2003;97:13101),the abstract was omitted. The publisher regrets the error. Theabstract is reproduced below:
A 39-yr-old woman underwent general anesthesia for laparoscopicsterilization. We used adhesive tapes to close her eyelids andto secure the tracheal tube. Removal of the tapes caused patchyareas of skin loss. We later discovered that the patient hadfragile facial skin from cosmetics containing skin exfoliants. We recommend taking a detailed drug history before anesthesiaand avoiding adhesive tapes to the patients face undergeneral anesthesia.
