Professional Interests
I started off as a biomedical engineer interested in modeling action potentials in axons. As an anesthesiologist, my focus moved just a bit from axon to the neuromuscular junction. I conducted research on most, if not all, new neuromuscular blocking agents since atracurium and vecuronium. However, the most interesting aspect of my research was on blockade of different muscles of the body, pharmacokinetics and monitoring neuromuscular blockade. Because measuring their effect is easy, neuromuscular blocking agents make beautiful models for the study kinetics-dynamics interactions, with principles that can be applied to all areas of anesthetic pharmacology.

Conflicts of Interest
In recent years, I received funds to carry out my research and honoraria from Organon, I am also Associate Editor-in-chief for the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia, where my duties include handling French-language manuscripts and being in charge of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program.
