My main research interests are in the area of endocrine and metabolic problems associated with anesthesia. Somehow I have managed to build a career around investigating the stress response to surgery. I prefer working with non-clinicians and have enjoyed fruitful research collaborations with a variety of disciplines: agricultural physiology, veterinary anesthesia, basic endocrinology, exercise physiology and psychology. Although in the twilight of my career I am still passionate about research and intend to bother PubMed with Hall GM for the next five years.
