Professional Interests
My primary research interests are related to the pharmacology of ventilatory control. Because of the importance of drug induced respiratory depression in patients receiving moderate and deep sedation, l became involved in developing standards and guidelines for the safe use of sedative and analgesic drugs outside of the operating room. I am also actively involved in education at all levels and serve as Vice Chair of the ASA-ABA Joint Council on In-Training Examinations.

Conflicts of Interest
I serve as a paid consultant to Ethicon EndoSurgery and to Cardinal Health, dealing primarily with issues related to moderate/deep sedation and obstructive sleep apnea.
