My research interests include hemostasis, acute inflammation and anaphylactic reactions, cardiovascular pharmacology, and vascular physiology. My clinical interests are cardiothoracic anesthesiology and critical care medicine. I have been active in developing transfusion alternatives, and elucidating mechanisms and therapeutic approaches involved in biventricular failure and anaphylactic shock. Some of my current research efforts are the application of biotechnology in clinical medicine, developing purified and recombinant novel agents that can be administered to modulate inflammation, hemostasis, and treat or prevent bleeding.
| Within the past year I have served on research steering committees for Canyon, Cubist, and Novo Nordisk. I currently receive research support from Eisai, Lilly, and Schering-Plough.
