Professional Interests
Professional interests: Neuropharmacology of anesthetics (general anesthetics and local anesthetics).  I have studied neuropharmacology of anesthetics using in vivo electrophysiological methods, and revealed that general anesthetics are grouped into two main groups depending on the effects on the neuronal activities in the central nervous systems.  This grouping is useful for clinical practice.  I also have interests in new drugs in the fields of anesthesia and have promoted introducing new drugs in Japan.

Conflicts of Interest
I am now a consultant of Maruishi pharmaceutical company, and I am a member of the committees of adverse effects of drugs and new anesthetics.
