Areas of interest include: gender-related outcomes of cardiac and non-cardiac surgery; cardiovascular safety of COX-2 inhibitors used in the perioperative period; neurologic outcomes (cerebral temperature, cerebral oxygenation, and utility of the NIH Stroke Scale); transfusion outcomes (clopidogrel-related bleeding and blood substitutes); cardiac outcomes
(CK-MB levels); pain management after cardiac surgery; anesthetic management of patients with heart failure; and efficacy and safety of experimental drugs (e.g., pexelizumab, clevidipine, parecoxib, recombinant Factor XIII).
