Professional Interests
My professional interests are regional anesthesia and pain management. My recent clinical focus is on the use of imaging tools to accurately apply regional anesthesia for pain management with consistent results. To this end, our center has conducted a series of clinical studies on the utility of ultrasound imaging for peripheral nerve blocks in the upper and lower limbs. We have also established an educational center for ultrasound guided regional anesthesia training. My other research interests include ultrasound imaging for other anesthesia applications, clinical evaluation of new analgesic drugs and local anesthetic neurotoxicity.

Conflicts of Interest
Within the past 5 years I have consulted for Abbott, Arrow, Biovail, Braun, Delex, GE Healthcare, Philips Medical System, Purdue Pharma and SonoSite. I am currently receiving equipment support for research from Philips Medical System and SonoSite and research funding support from Delex, Janssen Ortho and Pfizer.
