Professional Interests
My clinical interests are anesthesia for thoracic, laparoscopic and ambulatory surgery, and liver transplantation. My research interests are related to OR throughput, safety and error management in the perioperative period, perioperative systems design and OR workflow management, as well as new patient care technology. I lead the perioperative systems design effort for the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology OR of the Future Project at Massachusetts General Hospital. More recently my focus has turned to automatic process monitoring, error detection and electronic alerting in the OR environment.

Conflicts of Interest
Within the past year I have received consultancy honoraria from GE Healthcare and Masimo
